The Special Operations Division is comprised of the Traffic Unit, Community Policing Unit, Narcotic Enforcement Team (N.E.T.) and the Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) within the Bloomfield Police Department. These units work alongside the uniformed patrol bureau and detective bureau by providing a variety of support services to assist in accomplishing the mission of the Bloomfield Police Department.
Members of the specific units receive additional training and expertise for their corresponding specialty. The division is a compact and flexible organization that often sees the nature of its assignments change in response to crime trends and other identified special needs.
In addition, the Special Operations Division is responsible for the planning, organization, and oversight of any special events that take place throughout the Township. This includes events such as parades, downtown festivals, concerts and any other unique events that may arise. Members of Special Operations work closely with representatives from a variety of agencies around the Township, County, and State.
The Special Operations Division is under the supervision of Special Operations Commander Lieutenant Naomi Zepeda.
